Taking Time For Yourself as Self-Care

Life continues to life, and it always will. There are constant demands on our time, and there are not enough hours in the day to do everything. Daily we sacrifice getting the necessary hours of sleep or completing our exercise regimen (and countless other things) to complete time-sensitive tasks. Simply put, the world demands our time and attention and does not care if our well-being is at stake.

No one and no entity will give us the rest and restoration time we need. We must take it. That's right! Take it! We must unapologetically carve out time for self-care. No matter what is on the to-do list, our well-being reigns supreme. Remember, your mask first! Your productivity improves when you are rested and grounded. You owe it to yourself to take a break and tend to your needs. Whether you take 20 minutes to read or jog, your self-care time matters as much as your task list.

It is not hard to "take" personal time. Set a schedule and stick to it. Schedule 10–15-minute breaks periodically throughout your day to decompress and do something that enriches you. Request your vacation time and make your plans. Take it! When you revisit your list, you will be whole and more productive.

Here's to Your Health!
