Self-Care Check-In


Happy self-care Saturday!! I hope you are taking time for yourself and refilling your cup. How are you? No, how are you really? I don’t want the generic response we tend to give others. “I’m fine.” “Blessed and highly favored.” “I’m doing OK.” Any of this sound familiar? In this moment, I am interested in how you REALLY are. How are you coping with life’s challenges and demands on your time? Never mind if anyone else has checked on you. Have YOU checked on you? Every now and then, we must take time to assess how we are feeling by prioritizing our self-care. Life does not stop, but we should regularly evaluate our true feelings. Once we acknowledge how we feel, we can begin to address it. It does not matter whether our feelings are negative or positive. The only requirement is that they are real. Be honest and SAY how you are feeling.


There is no way to address negative feelings until you name them. Name them and then determine how you plan to handle them. Even if you cannot resolve your feelings today, you can take steps in the right direction. Develop a plan to manage what you are feeling. We want progress not perfection.


If you are feeling good with positive vibes, that is fantastic! Today I want you to acknowledge how you are feeling and what you did to contribute to your current mood. Determine how you can maintain these feelings into next week and beyond. What can you do better or more of? How do you continue to nurture yourself and prioritize YOU?


No matter how you are feeling, your experience is valid and authentic. Continue to stand in your truth and seek opportunities for improvement. If things are good, how can they be better? If things are not so good, how can you turn things around? In either case, continue to validate your feelings and check-in often to endure YOU are your top priority.
