Change as Self-Care

ree

Change is inevitable. Absolutely nothing stays the same. Our world is constantly changing. Technological advancements force us to change the way we interact with one another. Zoom has revolutionized how we gather and stay connected. Social media keeps us connected with friends and family we may not have seen in years. It also serves as a source of entertainment. You would be hard-pressed to enter a room and not find most people on their phones. The widespread ability to communicate via cell phone was not our reality 30 years ago. Our bodies change as we progress through the decades. Some change occurs so gradually that you hardly notice them, and others we feel instantly.

At this time of the year, everything around us is changing. We are in a season of growth. The grass is greener, and everything is in bloom (hence why allergy season is in full swing). Rain showers are common and make the growth around us possible. Our days are getting longer, and we have more daylight. The weather is warmer, and we enjoy more time outdoors. The change of season marks the end of winter and is the prelude to summer.

While season change is predictable and usually welcomed, life’s changes can be inconvenient. They may also be uncomfortable and force us out of our comfort zones. No matter how we feel about the changes occurring in our lives, they are necessary. There can be no growth without them. There can be no progress. Without life’s challenges, we would never walk in the fullness of who God intended us to be. Change can be hard to navigate, but not impossible. Those who successfully navigate life’s challenges have mastered the art of pivoting. Adjusting allows us to see our circumstances through a new lens and embrace change.

Without a doubt, change can be uncomfortable, but it can yield positive results. Spring rainstorm can be inconvenient, but it is necessary to manifest beauty of the season. Life happens to us all, and how we approach it makes all the difference.

Here’s to your health!
